White Fused Alumina

This synthetic product is fused in an arc furnace with high-quality aluminium oxide as raw material. Al₂O₃ content equals as much as 99% and Na₂0, K₂0, CaO, SiO₂, Fe₂O₃ are the admixtures.

In comparison with Brown Aluminium Oxide it has higher hardness (over 9 in Mohs scale) and microhardness (2100kG/mm₂). It is also more homegeneous as far as chemical content, structure and physical properties are concerned. Microporosity of the material does not exceed 5%. Specific gravity (density) amounts to 3,95+/-0,5 g/cm₃. Bulk density reaches 1,52-1,85 g/cm₃.

Application:

• production of high-grade abrasive tools,
• production of high-aluminium fireproof articles,
• production of noble and electrotechnical ceramics,
• for precision casting.

Brown Fused Alumina

It is a product manufactured by gradual melting reduction of calcined bauxite in an electric arc furnace at high temperature (approximately 2000 degrees Celsius). Its chemical composition consists mainly of Al₂O₃ (94,5-97%) and vestigal amounts of TiO₂, SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, CaO and MgO.

Brown Aluminium Oxide is characterised by good toughness, high mechanical resistance and hardness (9 in Mohs scale). The microhardness of the material reaches about 1900kG/mm₂. Specific gravity (density) equals 3,90+/-0,05 g/cm₃. Bulk density depending on size equals 1,52-1,87 g/cm₃. It has relatively high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion. As regards electricity it is an insulator.

Application:

• production of a broad range of abrasive tools, e.g. grinding wheels, abrasive segments, etc. that are designed for processing durable articles, above all for steel processing,
• production of abrasive papers and clothes,
• in fireproof and ceramic industry,
• in sand-blast processing.

Silcon carbide

This product, chemical formula of which is SiC, is obtained from the synthesis of high purity quarts sand and petroleum coke as basic raw materials under high temperature in an electric resistance furnace. It containes 85-99% of SiC and the admixtures of Fe₂O₃, Al₂O₃, CaO, SiO₂, MnO₂.

It is characterised by great hardness (9,2 in Mohs scale) and microhardness (circa 3500 kG/mm₂). Its specific gravity (density) of hexagonal type, which is affected by the degree of impurity, comes to 3,15+/-0,05 g/cm₃. Bulk density equals 1,30 - 1,58g/cm₃. Good thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion (decreasing with temperature growth) and high strength are another characteristics that ensure a wide use of the material. Electrically it is a semiconductor.

Application:

• production of abrasive tools designed for the finishing of the materials that have low resistance to extension, i.e. to the finishing of cast iron,
• aluminium, bronze, zinc, and also for tough and friable materials such as sintered carbide and glass,
• production of abrasive papers and cloths,
• in loose-grain machining, e.g. in gravestone letterer's craft,
• production of incombustible materials, heating elements in electric furnaces and lighting rods.

Cast steel shot

Shot is used for cleaning in every type of wheel machine as well as room blast where nozzles are employed in air blasting. It is also used in spin blast and conveyor applications when no rebound is present.
